Choosing a Path is the City of Vacaville’s public information effort to share facts about the City’s financial outlook, the services the City provides, and options that may be considered to address long-term budget challenges.

During the June 23, 2026 City Council meeting, the City Council voted unanimously to place the Vacaville Essential Services Measure of 2026 (Measure V) on the November 3, 2026, ballot for voter consideration:

Vacaville Essential Services Measure of 2026
Shall the citizens of Vacaville adopt a measure maintaining the City’s financial stability and essential services—including 911 emergency response; fire and ambulance protection; crime prevention; parks and recreation; safe public spaces; supporting local businesses; repairing streets; and other general City services—by establishing an additional one-cent sales tax providing approximately twenty-eight million dollars annually, with local control, citizens oversight, annual audits, and public reporting, until ended by voters?

If approved by voters, the measure would establish an additional one-cent local sales tax revenue that would remain in Vacaville and would be subject to a citizens’ oversight committee, annual independent audits, and public reporting. A majority vote, 50% plus one, is required for approval. If approved by voters, the tax would take effect April 1, 2027.
