Decades in the making, Jepson Parkway Project – a 12-mile multi-modal corridor – is a visionary solution to the congestion and mobility issues affecting the Solano County and Interstate 80 corridor. Upgrades to a series of narrow local roads will provide residents an efficient travel route instead of I-80, better connecting Leisure Town Road/I-80 Interchange and SR 12/Walters Road in Suisun City. Ultimately, the project will create a four-lane roadway that moves through Fairfield and ends at the I-80 and Leisure Town Road interchange in Vacaville and increase transit support and enhance pedestrian, motorist, and transit user safety. 

The complete 12-mile Jepson Parkway project is divided into 10 segments for design and construction purposes; 5 of those segments lie within the City of Vacaville along Leisure Town Road, 3 of which have already been completed. The City of Vacaville is constructing the Jepson Parkway Phase II Project which will extend Jepson Parkway along Leisure Town Road from Elmira Road to just south of the Ulatis Creek bridge crossing, adjacent to The Mission church site. City staff secured more than $23 million in funding to complete Jepson Parkway Phase II.

Several phases of the Jepson Parkway Project have been completed. With Phase II construction (Phase underway, the City of Vacaville and Solano County are one step closer to achieving project goals, including: 

• Providing central Solano County an essential roadway connection and supporting the continued vitality of Vacaville, Fairfield and Suisun City, emerging job centers, Travis Air Force Base and local schools and neighborhoods.
• Relieving existing and future traffic congestion problems in central Solano County. 
• Providing safer alternatives for autos, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
• Promoting local trips on local roadways.  

Once complete, the Jepson Parkway Projects will provide numerous community benefits, including:

• Developing a safe, efficient transportation network for the movement of people and goods within Solano County
• Protect residents living adjacent to roadways from the impacts of existing and anticipated traffic levels using landscaping and noise buffers
• Provide interconnected traffic signals using advanced transportation methods at major junctions to improve access and safety
• Provide efficient local streets to serve local trips that currently require using Interstate 80
• Improve emergency vehicle access and transit services

Several major upgrades have already been completed, including:

• Widening of Leisure Town Road from Vanden Road to Commerce Place
• New roundabout at Foxboro Parkway and Leisure Town Road
• Widening of Leisure Town Road from Sequoia Drive to Horse Creek Bridge
