Excise Tax
City of Vacaville voters passed Measure I, the approval of Ordinance No. 1843 adopted by the City Council on July 10, 2012, known as the “Community Streets and Facilities Tax”. The excise tax is paid by all persons residing in a house, apartment, condominium, or mobile home park, doing business, or staying in a motel in the City of Vacaville. Proceeds are used to fund municipal improvements.
As specified in the ordinance, the tax on an occupied residential unit is $58.02 per unit per year for twenty-five (25) years. Therefore, we will bill you bi-monthly for $9.67. As with any other tax, this $9.67 charge is not optional. If an extension is needed, due to having just been notified as owing this tax, we will be glad to make payment arrangements. It is the City’s practice to turn unpaid fees or taxes over to a collection agency.
