In November 2024, the City Council authorized a contract with Clanton & Associates to start preparing a comprehensive Downtown Vacaville Lighting Study. The study is being prepared to evaluate Downtown’s existing lighting, which improvements are needed, their priority level to the community, and funding. This study includes an inventory of the City’s lighting in the central Downtown area, evaluation of specific sites, and a report on the findings and initial recommendations for lighting in Downtown Vacaville. We encourage you to visit this page throughout the study to stay updated on the latest information, including any additions or modifications to the project

Quality street and area lighting provides multiple benefits to the Downtown and the community, including:

    • Increase feelings of safety in Downtown at night
    • Improved visibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists
    • Enhance the visual character of the Downtown district
    • Extend the economically active nighttime hours Downtown
    • Improved accessibility for the elderly or visually impaired

Please look at the tabs below for ways you can get involved and provide feedback!

Please participate in the Downtown Street Lighting Survey so the City may gather public feedback regarding the current strengths and challenges our community lighting is facing. This will help inform study recommendations.
