The Police Department is located at 660 Merchant Street, Vacaville, CA 95688.

Lobby Hours are 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.  We are closed every other Friday. Visit the City Calendar to view Friday closures and observed holidays.

    Captain Bryan Larsen was raised in Vacaville and attended Markham Elementary, Willis Jepson Junior High, Will C. Wood Junior High (when it was a junior high) and Vacaville High School. Bryan spent seven years with the Vacaville Fire Protection District, where he rose to the rank of Fire Captain and EMT. 

    In 2001, Bryan found his true calling and joined the Vacaville Police Department as a police recruit. Bryan has served the community as a Patrol Officer, Crime Suppression Team Detective, Investigative Services Section Detective and Field Training Officer.  Additionally, Bryan served as a member of the SWAT Team, Honor Guard and Mobile Field Force.

    Bryan was promoted to Sergeant in 2016, where he was assigned as a patrol supervisor.  In his tenure as a sergeant, Bryan also supervised the Field Training Program, the Department's Range and Firearms Training Program, and the Mobile Field Force Team.  In 2018 Bryan was selected to supervisor the VICE unit, focusing on investigations involving Human Trafficking, narcotics and firearms.  

    In January of 2020. Bryan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and worked as a patrol Watch Commander. In addition to patrol, Bryan provided oversight of the Traffic Section, Records Section, the Field Training Program, the department’s fleet, and served as a PIO. In 2022, Bryan was selected to manage the department’s Professional Standards Division, where he provided oversight of Internal Affairs, ensured the department’s compliance with State and Federal regulations, and provided oversight of transparency and policy.

    Throughout his career Bryan has been committed to community engagement. As part of his continued need to give back to his community, Bryan serves on several community-based organizations, including as a board member of the Vacaville Police Activities League and the Vacaville Police Foundation. 

    In January 2025, Bryan was promoted to Captain and serves as the Field Operations Commander.

    Bryan Holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Management, a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and has graduated from a variety of leadership courses.
