VACAVILLE, Calif. – The City of Vacaville is informing City Coach riders that bus service operated under contract for the City may be affected beginning Monday, August 3, 2026. The potential disruption stems from ongoing labor negotiations between the City’s transit service contractor, Transdev, and the union representing the contractor’s bus operators.
The City is not a party to these labor negotiations. Collective bargaining is a private matter between Transdev and its employees, and the City has no role in those negotiations. The City’s focus remains on its riders: making sure they receive timely, accurate information and that any disruptions to their service is kept to a minimum.
The City is working closely with Transdev to understand potential impacts, review contingency plans, and communicate any service changes as information becomes available.
"Reliable transit service is important to our community, and we understand the impact any disruption can have on those who depend on it,” said City Manager Savita Chaudhary. “While this labor matter is between Transdev and its employees and is not under the City's control, we are staying actively engaged with our transit provider and closely monitoring the situation. Our commitment is to keep riders informed with timely, accurate updates and to support clear communication throughout this process."
At this time, transit service continues to operate as scheduled. In the event of a work stoppage, Transdev is responsible for contingency plans to continue operating City Coach services. However, riders could experience service reductions, route modifications, delays, or temporary cancellations if service levels cannot be fully maintained.
The City will continue to provide updates through its website, social media, and other communication platforms as additional information becomes available.
