VACAVILLE, Calif. – As the 4th of July holiday approaches, the City of Vacaville reminds residents and visitors that all fireworks are illegal within City limits, including those labeled “safe and sane.”
Under Vacaville Municipal Code Section 5608.1.2, the manufacture, possession, storage, sale, use, or handling of fireworks or pyrotechnics of any kind is prohibited in Vacaville, including “safe and sane” fireworks. In 2022, the City adopted Vacaville Municipal Code Section 9.62 to strengthen enforcement of illegal fireworks violations. The ordinance authorizes City staff to cite a property owner if fireworks are stored or used on that property, regardless of the amount or type of firework. Citations may be issued immediately or by mail.
“Fireworks create preventable risks to people, pets, homes, open space, and first responders,” said Fire Marshal Jill Childers. “The safest and most responsible way to celebrate is to leave fireworks to licensed professionals and help keep Vacaville safe.”
