VACAVILLE, Calif. – The City of Vacaville is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Portier as its new Economic Development Manager, filling an important role that has been vacant since December. Ms. Portier brings a strong background in economic development, civic engagement, and data-informed policy innovation.
Ms. Portier earned her Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Development with a minor in Statistics from the University of California (UC), Davis. While attending UC Davis, she co-founded and chaired the board for Women in Data at UC Davis, the nation’s first student-run chapter of the international non-profit, Women in Data. Additionally, she co-authored published research on economic development programs. Upon graduating from UC Davis, she received the 2022 University Medal, an award given to the top graduating senior for academic excellence, leadership, and community service.
In her new role, Ms. Portier will be leading the completion and subsequent implementation of the City’s Economic Development Strategy. Working collaboratively with the Building and Planning Divisions, she will support business engagement and economic development initiatives, including the development of a small business ambassador program, and continued industrial and commercial business growth.

She will play a key role in advancing priority initiatives and strengthening Vacaville’s position as a competitive and business-friendly community,” said City Manager Savita Chaudhary.

In her free time, Ms. Portier enjoys hiking, coaching synchronized swimming, and spending time with her pets.
Most recently, she served as the Business and Community Engagement Specialist in the City Manager’s Office for the City of Woodland. She begins her new role with the City of Vacaville on May 11, 2026.
