VACAVILLE, Calif. – The City of Vacaville is inviting community members to shape the vision and design of three upcoming public art installations at Trower Park.
The City will host a Community Workshop on Thursday, November 6, 2025, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Markham Elementary, 101 Markham Avenue, for individuals and families of all ages. Pizza and refreshments will be provided to attendees.
The Trower Park Art Project features three creative elements that reflect the theme “Culture Meets Nature”:
- Mosaic tile artwork
- Ground surface mural
- Alebrije sculpture
During the workshop, participants will learn more about each of the planned art pieces, with a specific focus on sharing their connections to nature and culture for the mural and mosaic tile art projects. Participants will create a collage of images, shapes, and words that best reflect their lives, families, and culture in their neighborhood. The creative ideas shared will serve as inspiration to guide the artists’ designs.
“This is the community’s opportunity to help define how the art in their park should look and feel; how it represents their lives, culture, and connection to nature,” said Melody Land, Recreation Manager. “Don’t miss this chance to be part of this defining project!”
In the spring, there will be an additional opportunity for community members to participate in an installation day for the mosaic tile art. More information will be distributed next year.
For the Alebrije sculpture and mural artwork, the City is seeking local, budding artists to collaborate more closely and grow professional experience. Selected participants will earn a stipend and valuable hands-on experience.
