The 2019-2020 Budget Act of the State of California established the Prohousing Designation Program. The program acknowledges and supports jurisdictions that go above and beyond state housing law to help accelerate housing production. Jurisdictions that receive this designation receive the following benefits:

• Receive priority processing or funding points when applying for funding programs, such as Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) and the Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program (STPG).
• Eligibility to apply for the Prohousing Incentive Program (PIP). This program rewards local governments with funding to accelerate affordable housing production and preservation.
